Berlin. 2 Aquarelle mit Darstellungen des Berliner Straßenalltags. 28 x 25,5 cm (Darstellung). Um 1900.
Die detaillierten und realistischen Aquarelle geben den Alltag des Berliner Arbeiterstandes wieder. Unterhalb der Darstellungen befinden sich die Titel: "Das Cafe am Kreuzberg" und "Die fahrenden Verzinner". Es sind jeweils zwei Personen, zwei Männer und ein Mann und eine Frau dargestellt, die auf offener Straße ihrem Beruf nachgehen, wie die Bewirtung und die Verzinnung. Dabei haben sie allerlei Utensilien bei sich wie Töpfe, Kaffeekannen und Becher, Wolle, Flaschen, Pfannen, Metall, eine Pfeife etc. – Papierbedingt leicht gebräunt und minimal stockfleckig. Ecken nach innen abgerundet.

Die "Innere Ansicht der neuen friedrich-werderschen Kirche in Berlin" in der linken oberen Ecke mit minimaler Fehlstelle.

Photographer: Kessler. Views of Berlin during reconstruction. 1950s. 11 vintage ferrotyped gelatin silver prints on Agfa-Brovira paper. Each circa 18 x 24 cm. 1 with photographer's stamp and some with German typed press text label on the verso.

This interesting group of images shows well-known newly constructed buldings in Berlin after WWII such as the Henry Ford building in Dahlem, Otto-Suhr-Allee, Ernst-Reuter-Platz, the Academy of Arts, Hansaviertel and others. – Some light handlling marks, otherwise in good to very good condition.

Berlin. Sammelband mit Ansichten der Stadt Berlin. 42 montierte Stahlstiche. 23 x 32 cm. Leinen d. Z. (hinteres Gelenk angeplatzt, etwas berieben und ausgeblichen). Berlin um 1860.
Das Privatalbum wurde von einem gewissen P. Masfone für die "Signora D. Teresa Granito Contessa di Cerro" zusammengestellt und ihr im Oktober 1858 gewidmet. Die Stahlstiche, alle mit hs. französischer Bezeichnung, zeigen den Kreuzberg, die Bibliothek, das Universitätsgebäude, die Bauschule, die Schlossbrücke, den Dom, das Schloss, die Nikolaikirche, das Bethanien-Krankenhaus, den Gendarmenmarkt, das Gefängnis, die Borsigwerke, das Humboldt-Schloss und vieles mehr. – Stellenweise gebräunt und braunfleckig, meist wohlerhalten.

Berlin. "Meiner theuren Cousine Julie Langerhans zur Erinnerung an Berlin." (Deckeltitel). 14 montierte kolorierte Tonlithographien. 21 x 27,5 cm. Leinen d. Z. (etwas berieben) mit goldgeprägtem Vorderdeckeltitel. (Berlin, R. Nesselmann und Scherl), um 1845.
Vgl. Kiewitz 991-999. – Der privat zusammengestellte Sammelband wurde als Geschenk angefertigt, um die Erinnerung an den Berlin-Aufenthalt einer Cousine zu würdigen. Die Tafeln zeigen u. a. die folgenden Ansichten: den Kreuzberg, das Brandenburger Tor, das Zeughaus, die Neue Wache, das Museum mit dem davor befindlichen Lustgarten, das Schauspielhaus, das Krankenhaus Bethanien sowie das Charlottenburger Schloss.
– Die Original-Trägerpapiere stärker braun- und stockfleckig, die Tafeln leicht bzw. etwas braunfleckig. Leicht gebräunt. Vorderer fliegender Vorsatz mit hs. Widmung.

The images show postwar Berlin with its many ruins, Trümmerfrauen and includes two self-portraits. Usa Borchert was the wife of Eric Borchert, the star photographer at the Berliner Illustrirte Zeitung. He published the standard book on war photography under the National Socialists titled "Entscheidende Stunden. Mit der Kamera am Feind" in 1941, but he fell shortly later in North Africa in Tobruk in 1942. – Some corners bumped, some with creases, one with tear, otherwise in good to very good condition.

Album with views of postwar Berlin. 1947-49. 87 vintage contact gelatin silver prints. Each 5,5 x 8,5 cm. Mounted in photo corners to album pages, bound in contemporary carved wooden album with chord binding.
The album contains many images of damaged monuments and buildings after World War II in Berlin from 1947 up to the first elections in 1949. – Photos in very good condition.

Photographer unknown. Dramatic events during Oct. 25-28,1961, Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin. 13 vintage gelatin silver prints. Each circa 18 x 24 cm.
These images show various scenes around Checkpoint Charlie during and after the dramatic events between Oct. 25-28, 1961 when American and Russian tanks threatened each other. The photographs come from an East Berlin archive of former GDR border troops and were taken from the East side. – Curled in edges, some with light handling marks, otherwise in good condition.

These dramatic images show the few days after the GDR had asserted rights which only the Allies were entitled to. In response General Lucius D. Clay positioned American tanks at the border near Checkpoint Charlie. The images were taken by the East German secret police. – Some with creases in corners, slight edge wear, otherwise in good condition.

The German affiliate of F.W. Woolworth & Co. was founded in 1926 in Hotel Adlon, Berlin and the first German store was opened in Bremen in 1927. A larger store was opened the same year in Berlin on the corner of Leipziger Str. and Markgrafenstr. The cheap prices and merchandise laid out on open tables were the foundation of its success. – Corners slightly bumped, a few nicks in edges, one print with stronger crease in upper edge (backed), slight silvering in edges, otherwise in very good condition.

Attractive collection of views showing typical architectural styles of the late 1920s. One image shows the house of painter Fritz Ascher. – Minimal oxidation mirroring in edges, corners minimally bumped, one print with a few crease marks, otherwise in very good condition. Photographer: Alex Stöcker (1896-1962). Presentation album of the Berlin Polo Club e.V. Circa 1927. 22 vintage gelatin silver prints. Each circa 17 x 23 cm. Most with photographer's stamp on the verso, mounted to album pages in corners, bound in modern canvas album with leather clasp with chord binding (22 x 32 cm).

The Berlin Polo Club e.V. was founded in 1906 and was the second largest (after Hamburg) in Germany and on the European mainland. It was the meeting place of the Bohéme but also the aristocracy. With its international network and many Jewish members the club was a thorn in the side of the National Socialists and they pressed for its dissolution in 1933. This is a rare document of the club's heyday. – Photographs in very good condition.

Rare and unusual collection of aerial views showing various sites in Berlin, many under construction such as the Haus des Rundfunks; the reconstruction of Alexanderplatz; Messegelände with the Funkturm; Trumpf chocolate factory, Weissensee; the new Lichtburg, Wedding; the Charlottenburg Oberon; Trabrennbahn Karlshorst; Werder and old Potsdam as well as many factories, train stations and housing developments under construction. Another interesting aspect is the painted advertising visible on many of the larger buildings. – Photos in very good condition.

A comprehensive collection comprising views of Berlin in the 1950s. The first part of the album consists of photo postcard views, showing many of the newly built architectural landmarks of Berlin such as the traffic tower at the Joachimsthaler/Ku'damm corner; the new Zoo Palast cinema; the Kempinski Hotel; Kranzler Eck; the new restaurant pavillon in the exhibtion garden (Funkturm); the new HdK concert hall, Hardenberg Str.; Kongresshalle, Tiergarten; many planes at Tempelhof Airport; views of the architectural exhibition 1957; the new Bilka department store; the Bikini Haus and several views of Berlin by night. At the end of the album are a group of private shots showing the streets of Berlin, the Zoo station under reconstruction, Autobahn bridges and construction at Halensee, street traffic, the Berlin Hilton hotel and the Memorial Church in its state as a sole ruin. – Photographs in very good condition.

A very detailed panoramic view of the constrcution of Alexanderplatz, Berlin. Karl-Heinz Kraemer was a popular architectural photographer in the GDR. He was known for his extensive documentation of the construction of the TV tower at Alexanderplatz. – Creases in edges and middle area, otherwise in good condition.

Views of Berlin. 1871. Circa 42 albumen prints. Each circa 18 x 27 cm. Each mounted to original board (slightly soiled in edges) with title and number printed below the image on the mount, in 2 red cloth portfolios.

Both include views of the most known sites of Berlin. The early photos of the four major train stations, including Hamburger Bahnhof, Niederschlesischer Bahnhof, Görlitzer Bahnhof and Ost Bahnhof are quite rare. – Most in very good condition.

Documentation photos of the reconstruction of bridges and rails for the elevated railway in Berlin. 1929 - 1936. 50 vintage gelatin silver prints on doubleweight paper. Most 17 x 23 cm. Circa 12 with Industrie Aufnahmen Ragotzi stamp, some with annotations in pencil on the verso.

An attractive collection showing the massive building of the Berlin elevated railway and other prominent places such as Jannowitzbrücke, Schlesischer Bahnhof, Westend, Nikolassee, etc. – In very good condition.

At the beginnig of the album is a portrait of Willy Brandt and Ernst Reuter followed by typical scenes of the rebuilding of Berlin such as Trümmerfrauen at work, reforestation of the city's forest areas, street and rail construction and some modern buildings such as the Kongresshalle and Telefunken building.

um 1797. Bildnis Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1770-1840), König von Preußen, in blauer Uniform mit Bruststern des königlich-preussischen Ordens vom Schwarzen Adler.
Gouache und Aquarell auf Elfenbein. 4,4 x 3,4 cm (oval). Im Medaillonrahmen mit rückseitig eingefasstem Haarornament und dem ligierten Monogramm "AR" aus Gold.

Am Weihnachtstag des Jahres 1793 heiratete Friedrich Wilhelm Luise zu Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Das Paar lebte im Kronprinzenpalais Unter den Linden in Berlin und im bescheidenen Sommersitz Schloss Paretz bei Potsdam. Fast bürgerlich lebte dieses einander sehr zugetane Paar. Mit Herrschaftsantritt von Friedrich Wilhelm im Jahr 1797 wurde seine Frau zu Königin Luise, die von den Berlinern wohl verehrteste Königin aller Zeiten.

Interesting selection of images showing life in Berlin from the 1930s - 1990s. Includes the photographers Fritz Eschen, E. Rogge, Sven Simon, most from the agency Pressephoto Hecht. Many show Berlin before and after WWII, ruins of the inner city, farming in the Tiergarten, poor people on the streets, street life in the mid-forties around Kurfürstendamm, Leipziger Platz and Bahnhof Zoo. Also includes some views of the Berlin Wall and one image shows Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt at the Casablanca Conference in 1943. – Some with traces of use, otherwise many in good condition.
