A key figure in Italian pictorialist photography, he co-founded the Gruppo Piemontese per la Fotografia Artistica in 1921 with Stefano Bricarelli and Achille Bologna, and in 1924 helped relocate the journal Il corriere fotografico from Milan to Turin.
