The Swiss photographer Balthasar Burkhard mainly worked in black and white and printed his photographs himself, often in huge dimensions, and framed his images in iron frames behind glass. He often worked in cycles. His cityscapes, landscapes or deserts are mostly taken from a bird's-eye-view perspective - photographed from helicopters or atop skyscrapers. He is internationally recognized as an important minimalist artist, with works in several international museums and public collections. An exhibition of his work was recently shown at the Fotomuseum Winterthur and Museum Folkwang in Essen. The majority of images offered here are Mexico City. These smaller formats are unique as Burkhard usually printed these images in very large sizes circa 130 x 250 cm. – Some light buckling in edges, a few with bumped corners, one with crease mark in upper right, otherwise in good condition.
