Apart from a rare vintage print of this iconic image by Robert Lebeck of an African man stealing the Belgian King's saber in 1960, this lot also includes an exceptional set of images showing various scenes of the act and the arrest of the man. – Vintage print with stronger creases near right and left edge, layout marks in lower margin, other prints with handling marks, otherwise in good condition.

Church service in Cuzco, Peru; School in Egypt. 1960s. 2 vintage gelatin silver prints on Agfa-Brovira paper. 29 x 19,3 cm and 28,5 x 22 cm. Both with photographer's/copyright stamps, layout notations in pencil and 1 with photographer's calling card taped on the verso.

Minimal traces of use, Peru print with slight surface soiling, Egypt print with two spots of emulsion loss near right edge.

One of Robert Lebeck's most iconic images, which shows a young African man stealing the Belgian king's saber in Leopoldville in 1960, during the great Celebration of Independence.
