Two souvenir albums of a German colonial official in East Africa. 1905/06. Circa 320 collodion paper prints, gelatin silver and platinum prints. Various sizes, most between circa 12 x 17 cm and 10 x 9 cm. Mounted to album boards (slightly soiled at beginning of album, some wear), bound in 2 contemporary half leather albums (traces of use).

Some surface rubbing/scuffing, some faded, some with silver mirroring in edges, otherwise most prints in good condition.

Portraits of Kosaks. 1880s. 7 albumen prints. Various sizes between 10 x 6 cm and 15,5 x 21,5 cm. Most with number and title in lower edge in the negative, 4 mounted to board, 2 with photographer's blindstamp, several annotated in pencil on the verso.

Dimitri Ermakov was active as a professional photographer as of 1868. He traveled to various regions of Georgia, the Caucasus, Persia, Turkey, central Asia and Russia. Ermakov is the most important documentartist of Georgian life of the nineteenth and early twentieth century. A large part of his negatives are in the collection of the National Museum of Georgia. – Some faded, a few with small spots, one with crease in upper edge and red circular stamp in lower right corner, otherwise in good condition.

Georg Koppmann & Co. was one of the foremost photographers of Hamburg urban views in the second half of the 19th century. The views include: "Dammthorwall vom Dragonerstall aus gesehen (1879); "Bei den Mühren, Ecke der Reimerstwiete" (1884); "Dammthorwall" (1879) and "Brook nach dem Sande zu gesehen" (1883). – A few light surface scuff marks, otherwise in good to very good condition.

Portrait of the architect and painter Ludwig Lange (1808-1868). Circa 1850. Salt print from calotype negative. 21,8 x 17,3 cm. Mounted to board (some foxing/soiling), photographer's blindstamp below the image on the mount.

After studying Chemistry and Pharmacy, Alois Löcherer started to experiment with the talbotype. As of 1845 he began photographing professionally and his studio was one of the first in Munich. He made many portraits, as well as the casting and installation of the Bavaria statue. Among his students were Moritz Eduard Lotze, Franz Hanfstaengl and Joseph Albert.
The architect Ludwig Lange portrayed in this image began his training in 1823 under Georg August Lerch. From 1826-1830 he worked with Georg Moller and from 1830-1834 he studied with the landscape painter Carl Rottmann in Munich, with whom he made his first study trip to Greece in 1834. As of 1835 he taught at a high school in Athens and he also was the consulting architect for King Otto I for public buildings. As of 1874 he was a professor for architecture at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich. – Retouching in background and on forehead, otherwise in good condition.
