Views of the Swiss Alps and Lucern. 1900. 4 vintage photochromes (1 in color). Circa 53 x 22 cm and 70 x 17,5 cm. Flush-mounted to board.

The picturesque views show the Adamello group, the Brenta Dolomites and the Rosengarten group. The color view shows Lucern. – One with repaired small tear in lower right corner, otherwise in very good condition.

Images of geological surveys, bridges and lands...

Photographer: William Henry Jackson (1843 - 1942) and unknown. Images of geological survey groups, bridges and landscapes in the American West. 1880s - 1892. 10 albumen prints. Each circa 10,5 x 16,5 cm and 11,5 x 19,5 cm. 5 with photographer's initials, title and number in the negative in lower corners, each mounted to board (some soiling), a few annotated in English in ink on mount verso.

This very interesting group contains three images by William Henry Jackson: 3619 "A 'Cow Boy'; 808 "The Royal Gorge" and 1828 "High Bridge in Loop". Two other images 4625 "Dale Creek Bridge" and 5003 "Canon Diablo Bridge" are by other photographers. A further two images show survey groups, one annotated in ink by the surveyor William Kennedy: "Kennedy's party surveying Tertiary Area of Texas. Geological survey of Texas September 1892. Near Calvert, Robertson County, Texas. With the best regards of William Kennedy" on the verso. – Most with strong tones and in very good condition.

Very artistic views, including several early views by James Anderson, all with strong tones. – A few light spots, otherwise in very good condition with strong contrasts.

Souvenir album of a German official travelling through Southeast Asia. 1890s. 121 vintage albumen prints and some collotypes. Most circa 20 x 27 cm and smaller. Mounted to album boards (time-stained, buckled, brittle, some loose) most with caption in German in ink below image on the mount, bound in leather album (edges rubbed, cover loose and spine missing) with gilt-stamped title Hongkong.

This album documents a trip through India, Colombo, Siam, Hongkong, Macao, Tsingtau and Japan. Includes many group pictures of the album compiler and other Europeans, some landscapes, harbor cities, temples and some portraits of Asian people. – Some prints with light surface rubbing/buckling, otherwise most in very good condition with strong contrasts. With: Souvenir album of a German official in Asia. 1900. 10 collotypes (Manila), 20 collodion paper and gelatin silver prints and 5 hand-painted albumen prints (Japan). Most circa 20 x 27 cm and smaller. Mounted to album boards, annotated in ink below image on the mount, bound in maroon leather album (edges rubbed, scuff marks) with gilt-stamped initials A.F. - Some prints with surface rubbing/buckling from mounting, some with discoloration spots, otherwise most in good condition.
